The concept of logical levels of learning and change was initially formulated as a mechanism in the behavioural sciences by anthropologist Gregory Bateson, based on the work of Bertrand Russell. Robert Dilts expanded the Neurological Levels and refers to a hierarchy of levels and the relationship of the interactions within an individual or group.
Why is all this important in Coaching?
Many times, we as Coaches are caught up at the lower levels of the How, When and Where of Coaching. We often forget the more important levels, that moves our Coachees from the Performance and Developmental base of Coaching, to a higher level of Transformational Coaching.
Understanding what impacts a person at every level can help your Coachee create new awareness of their language and filters. It will also help accelerate them to new insights and understanding, whilst challenge them toward what they want and desire!
You can Level-UP your Coaching when you help uncover the deeper drive of where your Coachee is at, and align them to who they are and what they were called to Be.
