The ICF offers three credentials:
- Associate Certified Coach (ACC);
- Professional Certified Coach (PCC); and
- Master Certified Coach (MCC).
Detailed information on how to apply for each credential is available through the links below.
There is an expectation that all ICF Credentialed coaches will continue their education and build on their level of experience. The resulting growth in competency and professionalism will be evidenced by their journey to the MCC credential.

Associate Certified Coach (ACC)
The ICF Associate Certified Coach credential is for the practiced coach with at least 100 hours of client coaching experience. There are three ways to apply for the ACC: the Accredited Coach Training Program ACTP path, the Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) path, and the Portfolio path.

Professional Certified Coach (PCC)
The Professional Certified Coach credential is for the proven coach with at least 500 hours of client coaching experience. There are three ways to apply for the PCC: the Accredited Coach Training Program ACTP path, the Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) path, and the Portfolio path.
There are PCC Changes to PCC Requirements: Currently, PCC applicants can demonstrate their coaching experience in one of two ways:
a) A coaching log demonstrating 750 hours (675 paid) of coaching experience with at least 25 clients. b) A coaching log demonstrating 500 hours (450 paid) of coaching experience with at least 25 clients following the start of their coach-specific training. At least 50 of these hours must occur within the 18 months prior to submitting the application for the credential.
Effective October 1, 2016 at 12 a.m. (New York), all PCC applicants will be required to demonstrate their coaching experience according to option b (500 hours following the start of coach-specific training).

Master Certified Coach (MCC)
The Master Certified Coach credential is for the expert coach with at least 2,500 hours of client coaching experience. There is a single application type for the MCC.

Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA)
All credential applicants must complete a Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA) consisting of multiple-choice questions which is only required to be completed one time. For more details of the CKA, please Click here to read.
PCC Assessment Markers
Assessment markers are the indicators that an assessor is trained to listen for to determine which ICF Core Competencies are in evidence in a recorded coaching conversation, and to what extent. The following markers are the behaviors that should be exhibited in a coaching conversation at the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) level, please read here.
