Capt. Dr. Ooi ACC
With 40 years in the airline industry, Captain Dr. Ooi has experiences as a pilot and senior management in Malaysia Airlines (MAS). These include responsibilities in operations, change management, service quality, quality assurance, human factor training, team and leadership development.
As the former Senior Vice President Corporate Safety Oversight in MAS, his responsibilities cover safety performance reporting to the Board and safety oversight for MAS and its subsidiaries. This include the development of safety training and improvement programs in the airlines and collaborating with Government and International Airline stakeholders
He led successful teams in the implementation of MAS first crew management systems, Y2K roll over and more recently the introduction of the Airbus 380 to Malaysia Airlines.
He completed his MBA with the University of Bath / Malaysia Institute of Management program in 1989 and followed up with a DBA with the University of Newcastle in 2006. He attended a number of MAS sponsored courses in Asia, UK and the US on leadership, airline business and IT. He obtained Six Sigma green belt with GE Engines and MAS collaboration in 2001
He lectured in degree and MBA courses for the Malaysia Institute of Management (MIM), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and Maastricht School of Management (MSM) for the last 17 years with specialization in Management, Change Management and International Corporate Strategy.
He is a credentialed coach (ACC) with the International Coach Federation. His coaching approach supports clients to discover their inner awareness to see new possibilities. This shift can result in self transformation creating new mindsets for sustainable change and accelerate positive business outcomes.
