I could not agree more with Steve Jobs. If you love what you do, you’ll do great work. I was lucky for it didn’t take long for me to be doing what I am passionate about. I love working with people and I am passionate about building talent.

Although armed with a Bachelor Degree in Analytical Economics, I opted instead for a non-mainstream banking position. I got involved in Human Resources. It was a deliberate move I never regretted.

At a Utility Company, I had the opportunity to build up the People Department which overlooked the entire HR spectrum. Nurturing people was what I loved doing and Learning and Development found that soft spot in my heart. I still relish my early experience of spending long hours studying the Training Needs Analysis and coming up with Learning Objectives and then negotiating our needs with training providers. Eventually putting together, the yearly training calendar and getting the greenlight from the CEO was like completing a bungee-jump - the sense of satisfaction was sheer exhilaration.

Leadership Training is my other passion. The challenge was in developing leaders with the right balance of being knowledgeable and people oriented. As one of the mentors, I had the micro experience of working with individuals with high potential. At the same time, as Project Director I had a macro view of learning how other mentors were conducting their development work. My office became a safe space for staff to come to as we uncover hidden talents, neutralize fears and develop potential. Being part of other people’s developmental journey in gaining confidence and pursuing their commitment to their goals and purpose brought me great joy.
Through these experiences, I realised that I had powerful listening skills, not just with my ears but with my eyes and heart and the language of silence.

Encouraged, I decided to pursue coaching and became a certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation(ICF) from the United States and accredited as Associate Certified Coach (ACC); and I also went back to school and studied psychology to learn about the subject I like most – Human Behaviour!

After more than 20 years, I left corporate and now work with individuals as a Performance Coach, helping them unleash their true potential.
